Glasgow Rocks have signed point guard Nate Britt on a deal until the end of the season. The 23-year-old played at college level with North Carolina, and was involved in 39 games in his senior year last season, averaging 4.4 points and 2.3 assists in 19.1 minutes.
During his high school years at Washington DC he won the player of the year award back in and was also involved in the USA under-18 national team, winning gold in the FIBA Americas under-18 Championships in Brazil in 2012.
During his time at college, Nate was an important part of the team that helped UNC to their National Championship win over Gonzaga 71-65 in the NCAA Tournament Championship Final back in April this year.
Head coach, Tony Garbelotto, is looking forward to having Nate on the Rocks roster and stated: “We are excited to bring Nate to the Rocks. We were looking for someone with a high basketball IQ, high skill level and a leader and I think we have found him.
"We are all looking forward to working with him and integrating him into the team”.
The point guard had the 11th highest free throw percentage in UNC history (.828) and won Carolina’s defensive player of the game award 18 times in his 111 games for the Tar Heels.
Britt joined up with NBA side Atlanta Hawks during the summer ahead of the draft, and played with them during the NBA Summer League.
Co-owner, Duncan Smillie, understands the importance of signing someone like Britt and added: “To attract such a quality player from such a big school says a lot about the Rocks and indeed the BBL.
"We are really looking forward to welcoming Nate to our fantastic team and city - I know everyone will make him feel welcome”.
Nate will go straight into Tony Garbelotto’s roster, as Glasgow look to continue their winning run with the Rocks next home game against the London Lions on December 29. Tickets are still available for this game via the www.glasgowrocks.co.uk
