Leicester Riders have signed 6ft 3in British-Canadian guard Kiefer Douse ahead of the start of the new BBL season, when the Riders will look to defend the league title.
Douse joins following a very positive senior year at Canisius College in Buffalo, where he started all but one game and averaged an impressive 10.9 points and 2.7 assists per game.
He poses a long range threat after shooting a team high 50.2% from the field in his senior season at Canisius, a stat that saw him ranked eighth in the MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference).
“We are excited about Kiefer joining our program,” said Riders' Head Coach, Rob Paternostro.
“He had a very good season last year at Canisius and is a player who has shown the ability to make plays in many different ways. His versatility will be very beneficial to our roster this year.”
Douse joins following a busy summer of basketball in his home town of Toronto, Canada where he has continued basketball within summer Pro-Am competitions as well as giving back to the local community in a number of camps.
“I’m very excited to sign with Leicester Riders,” said the guard,
“I think it’s a great opportunity and have a great chance at playing a major role for a well established programme! I like the style of play with the run and gun and the full court defence.
“I’m a guy that brings endless energy and loves to make plays and pass the ball, for the fans I might have a few new high flying dunks for them to enjoy this season.”
The latest signing for the Riders takes the current announced roster to six players with two Non-Eu and one European import slots still open for Coach Paternostro.
Douse joins Tyler Bernardini, Andy Thomson, Eric Robertson, Harrison Gamble and Josh Ward-Hibbert who are already signed for next season, with more signings expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Douse is expected to join the Riders at the start of pre-season later this month ahead of pre-season action against the USA Select on September 2nd with tickets on sale by CLICKING HERE.
