Raiders add Adekoya to strenghten backcourt

Plymouth Raiders are pleased to announce the signing of 6ft 5in shooting guard, Jawad Adekoya to help strengthen the back court for the remainder of the season.

Adekoya, who originates from Tinley Park, Illinois, is no stranger to the BBL having played last season with the Cheshire Phoenix where he averaged a respectable 10pts per game in a little over 23 minutes.

Prior to this, Adekoya, who holds a British passport, graduated as a senior from NCAA Division 1 college Chicago State, where he averaged just under 8pts a game for the Cougars.

Raiders' Head Coach, Gavin Love said, “We are happy to welcome Jawad to the Plymouth Raiders. His skill set will help our team moving forward and strengthen us at the shooting guard position.

“This will be Jawad’s second season playing BBL basketball, so I am sure it will be a smooth transition for him.”

Adekoya added: “I’m very happy to be here playing for the Raiders. The city and team each have a rich history that I can appreciate and I’ve heard nothing but great things from friends who have played here in the past.

“I’m excited to get started on helping the team achieve ultimate success!”

Fans can watch Adekoya make his debut this Sunday, 26 November, at 4pm when the Raiders take on the Newcastle Eagles in the BBL Championship. Tickets are still available via www.plymouthraiders.com, book online to take advantage of the pre-game discount.
