London Lions have added sharpshooter Jack Isenbarger to what is shaping up to a an almost brand new squad for 2017-18.
The 6ft 2in Indiana born guard had his inaugural BBL debut with Leeds Force last season and led the BBL in three-point shooting at 49% per outing, en-route to 16.4 points per game. A graduate of NCAA Division 1 school, Elon, Isenbarger was also voted on to the All Southern Conference Team of the year two years in a row.
Hailing from a basketball family, Jack’s dad won the NCAA Championship and NIT Championship with Indiana. A self-styled gym rat, Jack hit 8 three pointers in games on three occasions in the BBL last season -despite always being the defensive focus of all the teams he faced.
Coach Karol had eyed Isenbarger for some time and enthused: “He played originally in Spain, but I saw the way he shot the ball, his quick release, plus his ability to hit off a dribble or two, I believe his threat will be an asset to us.”
Isenbarger is delighted to land in the capital and added: "I'm very excited to join the London Lions, and I look forward to working hard towards reaching the club's goals this season under Coach Karol's leadership.
"I am thankful to be part of a great organization and I look forward to returning to compete in the British Basketball League. I plan to put my best foot forward to give our fans, coaches, and organization the results we desire."
Lions' club boss, Vince Macaulay stated: “It was neat we could beat a number of teams to Jack’s signature, thanks to our partnership with the University of East London.
"Jack will also do a masters degree here in London and that played a huge part in his decision, his energy and desire are infectious and I think the fans will love him.”
Watch out for more player signings coming soon, the Lions will start pre-season on the 5th of September when the team will fly to Poland for some tournament games before returning in time for the British Basketball All Stars event at the O2 Arena on the 24th of September.
