British Basketball is celebrating again, after its U18 men reached the final of the FIBA European Championships in Tallinn confirming a second promotion of the international season.
Their 75-61 win over hosts Estonia means they are guaranteed promotion to Division A, after a dominant display in front of a passionate home crowd.
The achievement follows the footsteps of the U20 men's team, who were promoted themselves when they finished 3rd in Romania two weeks ago.
It's the first time that two British teams have been promoted in the same year, since the institution of the modern British Basketball programme a decade ago. This comes in the first year in which Great Britain have fielded teams at U18 and U16 level.
Great Britain U18 men will play Croatia in Sunday's Final (18.30 BST).
British Basketball Performance Director Mark Clark said, "Congratulations to the players, Head Coach Alan Keane and his staff on a terrific job in this tournament. The success of our U18 Men is a tribute to their hard work, attention to detail and undoubted skill."
"It's a real step forward to see two promotions in the same year. We have real talent coming through in our junior ranks and while there's much work ahead to nurture that potential, I'm delighted to see this progress."
"Here's hoping the team can perform again in the Final on Sunday."
