Great Britain reveal U16 squad

The first GB Under 16 selection camps have been held at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester, over the weekend of 24-25 June.

Mirroring the previous weekend with the GB U18 camps, the U16's had an outstanding two days of training and team building.

British Basketball Appointed Board Member (Performance), Mark Clark, who also coaches WBBL side Barking Abbey Crusaders commented: "I was able to attend the GB U16 camp on Sunday and was pleased with the level of athletes and the quality of the camp delivery by the coaching and support staff.

"All those players took their first steps as part of GB Basketball. A key message for both squads over the whole weekend was pride in their achievement of being part of the first ever GB U16 Men's and Women's squads.

"This weekend was a first step those selected took to representing Great Britain at the European Championships. It was reassuring to see basketball across GB working together and the NBPC is a great venue to stage camps.

"It was a good start to the summers programme and with the talent selected in these two squads, I am confident we will perform well in the upcoming camps, tournaments and FIBA European Championships."

James Vear will take the reins of the team this summer at the FIBA U16 European Championship Division B in Bulgaria in mid August.
