BBL All-Star Five – Week 17

Posted on BBL Media

We have two more debutants in our line-up this week, plus the 2018 BBL Cup Final MVP.

Tyler Bernardini (Leicester Riders)
The Riders’ captain has racked up many appearances in our starting line-up during his illustrious BBL career and he cements the first of the current campaign after finding the hot hand against Scorchers. Bernardini was outstanding with 19 points from 70% floor shooting and only just fell short of a double-double with 9 assists – as well as offering up 2 steals and 2 blocks.

Malcolm Riley (Cheshire Phoenix)
The Cheshire guard will never forget a special day at Arena Birmingham when he fired Phoenix to a historic first ever BBL Cup success. He made the pivotal contribution against Wolves and it landed him the MVP honour to spark cause for a double celebration. He collected 26 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double, also handing out 3 assists and coming up with a steal and a block.

Dirk Williams (DBL Sharks Sheffield)
The Sharks revival continued last Friday night when Williams was a difference-maker in a hard fought home win against Manchester. He provided the telling contribution in the cross-Pennines clash after also registering a haul of 26 points and 9 rebounds. The versatile forward showed he has a productive inside-outside game as well as his athleticism, by nailing four triples.

Leslee Smith (Bristol Flyers)
Our second debutant was the centrepiece of a comprehensive home win by Flyers against London Lions, as the south-west club continued climbing the table. The Bristol forward impressed with a classy double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds, his eye-catching line boosted further by the addition of 3 assists, 2 steals and a blocked shot.

Kieron Achara (Glasgow Rocks)
The Great Britain veteran was typically influential for Rocks as they consolidated third spot with a big second half against Plymouth which helped them coast to victory. Achara came up with the goods by posting a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds, also getting the locals at the Emirates Arena off their feet with 4 assists, 2 blocks and a steal.

Off the bench – Brandon Peel (London Lions), Pierre Hampton (Leicester Riders), Cory Dixon (London Lions), Tre Bowman (Plymouth Raiders), Earl Brown (Glasgow Rocks), Callum Jones (Manchester Giants), CJ Gettys (Cheshire Phoenix).
