BBL All-Star Five – Week 3

Posted on BBL Media

There are five more new names in our line-up, but four very familiar All-Star Five faces from previous BBL seasons.

Zaire Taylor (London Lions)
The former BBL MVP has taken on an Assistant Coach role with Lions and rather than distracting him from his playing duties, it’s causing Taylor to find an even higher gear. He fired 16 points in the Cup clash against Raiders, which included four triples from just five attempts. The playmaker completed a terrific double-double with 12 assists, while also adding three rebounds and three steals.

Alex Owumi (London Lions)
The swingman was on top form alongside his Lions’ colleague and it’s a familiar sight to see the pair blossom, with Owumi producing the best performance of the entire weekend by harvesting a performance efficiency valuation of 31 against the Raiders. That came off the back of a majestic 32 points, as Owumi found the hot-hand from downtown with a mesmerising nine triples. He also weighed in with five rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Jamell Anderson (Cheshire Phoenix)
It’s looking more and more like the forward’s decision to branch out from his previous role with Riders and fulfil a team-leading position with Phoenix could be a masterstroke. Anderson is showcasing his skills to great effect so far and continuing this week’s theme of success from long-range, he dropped five of six triple attempts to finish with 25 points against Giants in a BBL Cup derby. During his all-action display, he added three rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Gareth Murray (Glasgow Rocks)
The Great Britain forward was the leading figure for Rocks as they dug out a win in the BBL Cup at the Emirates against Leeds Force. While Murray didn’t find his usual range from behind the three-point line, he was absolutely unstoppable inside it. He made a perfect nine of nine, as he amassed 21 points, while also chipping in with eight rebounds and three assists, to propel the Scottish side into the Quarter-Finals.

Tony Wroblicky (DBL Sharks Sheffield)
It’s a first ever berth in our starting five for the Sharks’ big man who stepped up to help the depleted Yorkshire side bounce back from losing key personnel last week and take a BBL Championship triumph against Giants. Wroblicky produced a smart 60% shooting performance to garner 21 points and only just missed out on a double-double by a single rebound. He also demonstrated his passing vision with six assists and recorded two blocks and two steals.

Off the bench – Rashad Hassan (London Lions), Scott Martin (Esh Group Eagles Newcastle), Earl Brown (Cheshire Phoenix), Conner Washington (Leicester Riders), Jermaine Sanders (Leeds Force), Donatas Visockis (Manchester Giants), Cory Dixon (Plymouth Raiders).
