There are just a few All-Star Five opportunities remaining during the 2016-17 season and these quintet are making the most of the limited time left to impress.
Mike Di Nunno (Cheshire Phoenix)
It was the penultimate weekend for the playmaker, since his side won’t be heading into the post-season and he is helping Phoenix try to sign-off with a flourish after orchestrating a big north-west derby win. DiNunno carried Cheshire past Giants with a great effort at both ends of the floor. He lit up the contest with a smart 19 points and eight assists, as well as snapping up a scintillating seven steals.
Conner Washington (Leicester Riders)
Heading into the locker rooms level at the interval against Plymouth Raiders last Friday, it was Washington who provided the second-half spark that fuelled a huge win on BBC Sport and delivered another league title for Riders. The guard was on fire from long-range as he sunk five three-pointers from just seven attempts, as he corralled a very nice 18 points. He also contributed six assists and four rebounds on a memorable night.
Malcolm Riley (DBL Sharks Sheffield)
It’s an exciting time for Sheffield fans as they think back to how their team clicked into gear last year down the season stretch and ended up being crowned BBL Play-Off winners. With the likes of Riley around, a repeat might be possible and especially if he finds his shooting range. He showed his skills with a mammoth 35 points against Bristol Flyers after he converted an outstanding nine triples, which went nicely with four boards and two assists.
Navid Niktash (London Lions)
It’s consecutive places in our starting line-up for the versatile Lions’ star after he provided the main thrust for a big victory against Leicester Riders. Niktash took the game to the newly crowned champions with an excellent inside-outside shooting performance that returned a sparkling 25 points. He hit five scores from downtown and enjoyed a great stat-line with seven rebounds and five assists also to his name.
Chaz Rollins (Surrey Scorchers)
Saving the best until last, Rollins rolls back into our line-up for the second time this season off the back of the best performance of the weekend in the BBL. He was unstoppable for Scorchers in their terrific and nail-biting success against Eagles after racking up a stellar double-double. The forward scored 30 points and also did the hard work on the glass with 13 rebounds – as well as handing out four assists.
Off the Bench - Kieron Achara (Glasgow Rocks), Rahmon Fletcher (Esh Group Eagles Newcastle), Anton Grady (Plymouth Raiders), Zaire Taylor (London Lions), Marek Klassen (Worcester Wolves), Kai Williams (London Lions), Quincy Taylor (Surrey Scorchers)?
