Esh Group Eagles Newcastle 103-80 Surrey Scorchers (21-22, 44-43, 75-57 )

Esh Group Eagles Newcastle bounced back from last week's Cup defeat to continue their unbeaten start in the BBL Championship.

Fab Flournoy's side moved out to a 6-0 record as they powered past Surrey Scorchers in the second half.

Leading Scorers – Paige 25, Defoe 23, Nimley 14 (Eagles); Hicks 19, Ogedengbe 15, Williams 10 (Scorchers)

Turning point – Surrey responded to slow starts in each of the first two quarters and looked to have the lead at the half before Jaysean Paige's late basket. From there, it was all Eagles as a dominant 23-4 run in the third helped establish a 20-point cushion and there was no way back.

Key stat - The Scorchers gave up 22 turnovers in the contest and Newcastle made them pay with 26 points off of those turnovers and racked up 59 points in a dominant second half display.

Game hero(es) – Jaysean Paige played another starring role with 25 points along with seven assists, while Darius Defoe stepped up with a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds with the Eagles also welcoming back Saah Nimley - who added 14 points.
