Veteran Paul Guede leads Lions to travel joy on Tyneside

Esh Group Eagles Newcastle 82-85 London Lions (21-20, 48-43, 64-62)

London Lions put last week’s loss behind them as they recorded an impressive road win at Esh Group Eagles Newcastle.

The Lions improve to 11-7 with the victory, whilst denting Newcastle’s league hopes as they lose ground at the top.

Leading scorers - Paige 25, Defoe 12, Nimley 11 (Eagles) - Guede 22, Peel 21, Dixon 15 (Lions)

Turning point - The Lions made a 7-0 start to the fourth to move ahead before Newcastle opened up a 73-69 advantage with a quick burst. The visitors re-gained control and were able to hold on down the stretch for a big road success.

Key stat - London forced their way to the line as they converted 20 of 24 from the free throw line, while the Eagles made eight of their nine attempts.

Game hero(es) - Paul Guede had one of his biggest games of the season in the absence of Justin Robinson with 22 points and 5 assists, while Brandon Peel posted another stellar double-double with 21 points and 15 boards.
